Landscape Chinese Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Blue-Green Trees Qinglu

For this Chinese landscape scroll painting, the painter chose mountain, mist, waterfall, river, and houses as the subject and worked it in the qinglu blue-green manner. This is the kind of Chinese mountain landscape wall decor that changes a room without shouting about it. There is a quiet rhythm to the strokes that steadies the whole wall.

The symbolism runs deep: a waterfall dropping in a pale thread, while layered mountains receding into the haze. It is the qinglu blue-green manner that carries the detail, while mineral blues and greens carry the light. Scroll paintings like this were the original wall art of the Chinese scholar's studio. The the qinglu blue-green manner keeps mountain crisp while letting the mineral blues and greens wash softly behind it. Look for mountain, mist, and waterfall first; the mineral blues and greens around them do the quiet work of holding the scene together.

A landing or stairwell wall gives the tall format the height it wants. It suits gifting for Lunar New Year and other celebrations.
